Brunate in Italy is a wonderful little village on the mountainside above Lake Como, one of the best places to visit in northern Italy, Just take a 7-minute ride on the funicular in Como up the mountain for a wonderful experience and spectacular view.
Brunate is only about 30 miles from Milan but is a world apart from life in a large city, including Como along the shoreline of the lake below.
It’s a small town with only about 1,800 people but its population surges in the summer when travelers from Italy, Europe and beyond rent houses and apartments in the charming little town on the mountainside. The town has several Art Nouveau villas that were built during the 19th and 20th centuries.
1,600 feet above Como and its famous lake, you can also reach Brunate by a steep winding road.
