The Swiss Alps are beautiful any time of the year. But in the winter the mountains about Zermatt are truly spectacular. Being at the top of the world in a winter wonderland…there’s nothing quite like it anywhere.

    Hi Jim,

Zermatt is a magical place. I remembered seeing the movie, “Third Man on the Mountain” starring Michael Rennie and James MacArthur, as I was a kid, when many years later when I was backpacking around Europe and looking for a fun place to spend the winter. Another backpacker I met said she was going to Zermatt for the winter to work as an au pair. Bingo, I went there too and worked in a lebensmittal. I learned to ski and had an incredible time. Have been back several times in other seasons. Zermatt is always wonderful even though it has become much more developed than back in 1971.

    Cheers – Stan

    Hi Stan,

I remember Zermatt well from years ago also. And it has developed a lot in the past few decades. We took our daughter and son-in-law and two grown grand kids there last winter. Winter is a magical time in Zermatt, even for non-skiers.

    Jim
